About

Miles of Chocolate

In the heart of the Texas Hill Country along the Colorado River, Miles of Chocolate has been producing chocolate for almost a decade. Miles of Chocolate is made with natural ingredients that you can pronounce, and are of the highest quality. They make it by hand and they have produced enough chocolate to cover the highways from Austin to San Marcos!

“We believe in quality and care about what we do. Being a small business we see the value in consistency and listening to our family, and that family is Y’all!  For the people that supported us from the beginning we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your love and encouragement over the years. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Food is something that brings us all together somehow, some way, everyday. Making a dessert that makes people laugh smile, relax, and share is a great privilege.  That is something we take great pride in.”

It’s no surprise that food brought Miles and Ben together almost 10 years ago. Both of them were in the process of redefining their lives when they met at a friend’s dinner party. Soon after, Miles officially started “Miles of Chocolate”, three months later Ben came aboard and the rest is Chocolate!

Meet Miles!

Miles Compton was born in Houston raised in Corpus. He joined the Marines after High School. Miles was sent to Vietnam and when he returned from Vietnam, he moved to Aspen, Colorado and started his love affair with food.

After working in a few restaurants he returned to Corpus where he pursued a Culinary Degree and became a Sous Chef. After a few years of managing hotel restaurants and owning a catering company he decided to move to his favorite city in Texas, Austin.

After a few years as a personal chef Miles decided to go out on his own and start selling a dessert he had created over the years that friends and family could not get enough of. Thus, Miles of Chocolate was born!

“I love it when people tell me they don’t like chocolate but they love Miles of Chocolate. That means the world to me!”-Miles Compton

Meet Ben!

Ben grew up in rural South Texas where he was raised around an abundance of agriculture in both farming and ranching.

His passion for food developed at a young age, cooking meals with his mother gave him the foundation to develop his own abilities in the kitchen.

After receiving a degree in Agricultural Communication from Texas Tech, this kept him close to the agricultural community where he developed an appreciation for the quality and care of food.

“I’ve always enjoyed cooking for my friends and family and exploring flavors and tastes. Both my parents were small business owners so when the opportunity to arose to help build Miles of Chocolate from scratch, I was in, and there’s no looking back!”-Ben Welch
